There are some very low priced aids that you can carry in your vehicle to make it easier for someone with any type of disability to get into and out of your vehicle.
The Mobility Grip demonstrated, fits in the D loop of the door pillar and provides a secure handle that your passenger can use to support their weight as they get in and out of your vehicle. You can put it in line with the door or at 90 degrees to the door.
Some Mobility Grips also have a hammer that can be used to break windows in case of an emergency, and a seat belt cutter to make it easier to get out of the vehicle.
Another useful aid is a standard handle, which goes on the mainframe. These are placed on the top frame of the window and the passenger can use it to pull themselves up out of the vehicle. When a passenger is using this, you must make sure that you always hold the door to avoid the door shutting and injuring your passenger.
Turntables are particularly useful if you have cloth covered seats in your vehicle, but are also a help on leather seats. There are different types of turn table, they are easy to store and are available in a soft material. They help the passenger to swing their legs around into the vehicle.
Ramps can be very useful, these can be folded up into the size of a briefcase and can solve a lot of problems if you need to push a passenger in a wheelchair up or down curbs, they can also be laid over uneven surfaces to make the chair easier to push.
